Man, 39, charged with attempted murder of police officer in Newton Abbot

A 39-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer after an incident in Newton Abbot yesterday (February 10th).

Guy Pottle, from Exeter, is accused of attacking the female police constable at a location on Drake Road during the early hours of 10th February.

The officer was taken to hospital following the incident and has since been discharged.

Officers initially attended the address shortly after midnight on Tuesday (February 10th) after a report of an assault, during which a woman sustained minor injuries.

Pottle appeared at Plymouth Magistrates' Court today (February 11th).

He is also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in connection with the initial incident.

Pottle has been remanded in custody and will appear at Exeter Crown Court on 12th March.
