Major international boost - as new flights see tourists head to South West
Passengers from around the world have booked to land at Exeter Airport, as daily flights to Amsterdam's international hub resume
Exeter Airport say it's getting passengers from all over the world - after flights started this weekend to and from the international hub at Amsterdam.
MD Stephen Wiltshire says the extra 30,000-passengers it'll bring here each year will boost the region's economy, adding: "We already know we've got people going as far as Hong Kong, and we've got people heading here) from all over Europe and as far as America.
"Obviously point to point is from Amsterdam but we know we've got passengers from Denmark, Hamburg, USA and as far as the Middle East.
"For us personally it's another 30,000 passengers and a lot of those will be tourism and business so it can only be a good thing.
"The strong demand we’ve already seen demonstrates how much this route was needed,

"This is a game-changer for connectivity in the South West. Almost every place in the world can be reached via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, making the route a significant step forward in the region's global connectivity."
This weekend marked the first time in almost five years that Exeter Airport has offered direct flights to Amsterdam, and the first time KLM has flown from Exeter.
The service is being promoted under the message ‘Travel far from where you are’, emphasising how Exeter Airport now provides a gateway to the world.
