There is no need for concern over the appearance of white webbing in trees at Belle Isle Park in Exeter, according to local officials.

The webbing is the work of small ermine moth caterpillars, which feed on the trees' leaves.

Exeter City Council has assured the public that the webbing and caterpillars are harmless and do not pose any risk.

While the webbing may be visually striking, officials say most healthy trees tend to recover from such infestations.

The caterpillars are naturally controlled by predators like birds.

Public safety is not at risk and the council advises park visitors to enjoy their surroundings without worry.
