The University of Plymouth is raising funds to create the Claire Chick Nursing Fund, in honour of Claire — who was a nurse and lecturer at the University of Plymouth.

Dr Claire Chick was a dedicated nurse and a passionate advocate for student nurses, always championing opportunities and supporting the next generation of the profession.

On its justgiving page, the University says: "With the support of her family, friends, and colleagues, this fund will continue Claire’s legacy by supporting student nurses through the Nursing Fund.

"It will provide travel bursaries, support for those facing financial or personal hardship, and other vital assistance to ensure that all nursing students, regardless of background or circumstance, can make the most of their education and go on to make a difference in our communities.

"Claire believed deeply in the difference nurses make in the world, and we know she would be proud to see this work continue in her name."

Claire was murdered by her former partner in January.
