Teignmouth's Harbourmaster has confirmed there's no pollution - and everyone is safe - after a large vessel ran aground this morning (Thursday 10th April).

The situation is being monitored and we're told the vessel could be re-floated tonight.

In a statement on their Facebook page, Capt. Rob Parsons said: "I can confirm that we have suffered a grounding, the cause of which is being investigated.

"The vessel is safe, we have no pollution and all involved are well.

"Solent Coastguard are fully briefed on the situation and I will of course update them if needed.

"Further to this I am working closely with the Owners, Agents, Operators and Harbour Staff to monitor the vessel and I will be looking to move her on this evenings tide.

"I would ask this evening that all vessels remain clear whilst we conduct this move, monitoring VHF channel 12 for info, and direction from the Harbour Authority."
