Landfill site proposal rejected

A proposal for a controversial landfill site on the edge of Exeter has officially been rejected.

Members of Devon County Council voted against the plans for a building waste landfill site near Kennford.

The committee voted unanimously to reject the plans.

The proposed site owned by the Taverner family which also have the Orange Elephant Ice Cream company by the side of the A38 Devon Expressway.

A number of objections to the plans had been submitted before the meeting took place.
