Jogger suffers life-threatening injuries after hit-and-run collision
The man is currently in hospital with serious injuries following the crash
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a jogger sustained serious injuries in a collision with a car on the A3072 in West Devon.
The incident occurred on 3rd September 2026 at around 8.30am between Garlands Farm and Highampton.
It involved a 41-year-old man out jogging and a dark-coloured SUV, identified as a Vauxhall Grandland, which was travelling towards Hatherleigh.
The vehicle reportedly left the scene after the collision.
The jogger suffered serious life-changing injuries and is currently hospitalised.
A 43-year-old man from Bideford has been arrested in connection with the incident.
He is suspected of multiple offences including causing serious injury by careless and dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, and driving while disqualified.
Further suspicions include driving while unfit through drugs, driving without insurance, and driving after licence revocation due to disability.
The individual has been released on police bail as investigations continue.
Officers from the Roads Policing team are urging anyone who witnessed the event or saw the vehicle in the area during that time to come forward.
They are also seeking dash cam or CCTV footage that could aid their enquiries.
