Have your say on future priorities for Dartmoor
A second round of consultation has opened
As Dartmoor celebrates its 75th anniversary of being designated as a National Park, a vital plan for the future opens for a second round of public consultation.
Starting today (Monday 12 October) and running until 22 November, people are invited to share their views on ambitions outlined in the Dartmoor Partnership Plan.
The Dartmoor Partnership Plan reflects the purposes and duty of the National Park. The draft plan outlines priorities for how the landscape will be conserved, enhanced and enjoyed from 2027 to 2032 and beyond. Themes focus on nature, farming, cultural heritage, access, climate change, business and other key issues.
By law, every protected landscape must prepare a plan of this nature. They are prepared and reviewed every five years by National Park Authorities or National Landscapes (formerly called Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
The current Dartmoor Partnership Plan, adopted in 2021, is being reviewed.
Because it is a long-term strategy for the geographical area, rather than just one organisation, work is led by the Dartmoor Partnership Plan Board. The board was established in early 2025. It brings together a wide range of organisations and individuals, all of whom care about Dartmoor and want to see it thrive.
Public feedback and community engagement is critical, in ensuring ambitions reflect what people care about.
Your Dartmoor: Take Part in the Consultation
At this point, people are being asked about proposed outcomes and targets – what they would like to achieved over the next five years and how progress will be measured and monitored.
The consultation is open to everyone. It's recommended that people read the draft Partnership Plan and its targets and outcomes, before sharing their views.
Paper copies of the consultation questionnaire are available from Dartmoor National Park Authority's main office at Parke, Bovey Tracey, or from the National Park Visitor Centres at Haytor and Postbridge.

Drop-in events will be held in key locations and details will be published on the Dartmoor Partnership Plan website
What happens next?
Feedback will be used, alongside a range of evidence and assessments, to update the plan.
Together, Dartmoor National Park Authority and the Partnership Board aim to produce a new, updated Partnership Plan in early 2027.
