A South Devon man has been jailed at Plymouth Magistrates Court for 50 weeks after admitting various offences including dangerous driving and possessing weapons.
23-year-old Ty Mayson was sentenced on Monday the 9th of March. The offences were committed in Paignton and Torquay.
Mayson received 28 weeks imprisonment for dangerous driving and was also sentenced to 22 weeks imprisonment consecutively for possession of weapons. These weapons included an axe and a knife which were found in vehicles with Mayson.
For driving while disqualified, he was sentenced to six weeks imprisonment to run concurrently. Mayson was banned from driving for two years plus 14 weeks until his driving test is passed. He must take an extended re-test. For failing to stop for police and possessing no insurance he received no separate penalty.
Torquay Sector Inspector Rob Harvey said: “We are satisfied with the 50 week sentence handed down to Mayson. The Torquay Neighbourhood Police team will continue to target those causing the most harm to the community. Mayson flouted the law and continued to present a significant nuisance and danger in cars despite being a disqualified driver. He will now be off the streets for some time and not a risk for the public.”
