Further arrests in murder investigation as man dies in Exmouth

Detectives investigating the death of a man in Exmouth on May 31 have made a number of further arrests

Detectives investigating the death of a man in Exmouth at 12:45am on May 31st have made a number of further arrests.

Officers were called out that morning, following a report a man had been assaulted and located in the garden of a property in Ashfield Close.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a 24-year-old male from the local area was pronounced deceased at the scene having suffered a single stab wound.

Two men in their 20s were subsequently located at an address in Hawthorn Grove, Exmouth, and arrested on suspicion of murder.

A third man, also in his 20s, was arrested in Exeter on suspicion of murder later on Saturday.

Four other suspects have been arrested.

A fourth man in his 20 has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Two men and a woman have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All seven arrested suspects remain in police custody at this time.

Warrants of further detention have been granted in relation to the first three suspects initially arrested on suspicion of murder.

Granted by Exeter Magistrates’ Court, the warrants allow police to detain the suspects for a further 36 hours.

DI Guy Biggar from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “We would like to again thank the local community for their support and patience with this investigation.

“Officers will remain in the area as our enquiries continue. If anyone has any concerns, please speak to our officers.
