Four injured after serious collision on A361 in Barnstaple

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash

Four people have been injured after a serious collision in Barnstaple.

Emergency services were called to the A361 at Chivenor just before 9:10pm on Sunday (26th April).

The collision involved a Vauxhall Astra van and a Ford Focus.

The van driver, a man in his 30s from Plymouth, sustained serious injuries and was taken to North Devon Dirstict Hopsital for treatment.

The three occupants of the car, all from Ilfracombe, were also taken to hospital.

A man and a woman in their 70s sustained minor injuries and a woman in her 80s suffered a potentially serious injury.

The road was close for over four hours while officers carried out an examination of the scene and the vehicles were recovered.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
