Firefighters tackle outbuilding blaze in Devon village
Crews were called to Hennock overnight (23/11)
Firefighters have been tackling a blaze involving an outbuilding in a Devon village.
Crews were called to Hennock overnight (23/11) - and they have confirmed that the cause was accidental.
A reinspection will take place this morning.
In an update, the fire service said: "Fire appliances attended an outbuilding on fire, and on arrival requested assistance of a 3rd appliance and the water bowser due to the building being well alight.
"Crews got to work to bring the fire under control with two hose reel jets, and protected the main property which was close by. Electrics were isolated, and crews ensured the neighbouring properties were evacuated and residents were at a safe distance.
"The fire was extinguished and crews confirmed the cause as accidental.
"The outbuilding measured 8m by 10m and contained a boiler and lawn mower, severely damaged by fire.
"Minor damage was also caused to the gutters and windows of the adjacent domestic property.
"Crews used 2 hose reel jets, small tools, 2 triple extensions ladders and portable lighting at the incident. Duty of care was left with the owners, and reinspection will be carried out in the morning."
