Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a property in Plymouth this morning (Monday 6 January).

Crews from eight different stations were called shortly after 6am, and quickly confirmed there was a fire involving an electrical unit in the basement.

National Grid isolated power to the street at 7.12am.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRS) said the flames had also spread to a neighbouring property.

Embankment Road was closed for a number of hours but has since reopened. The fire has been extinguished.
