Fire crews tackle 'deliberate' blaze near Oddicombe Beach, Torquay

Fire crews swiftly responded to a report of a large fire on the cliff face near Oddicombe Beach, Torquay.

Initially, two fire engines were dispatched to the scene.

On arrival, crews assessed the situation and determined the fire was large, prompting the request for additional assistance.

Three more fire engines and an off-road vehicle joined the operation to tackle the blaze.

The fire involved a mixture of gorse, grass, and trees and required various firefighting equipment to extinguish it.

Crews used hose reel jets, beaters, and a thermal image camera to bring the blaze under control.

By 00:50, the fire had been extinguished and all crews had departed the scene.

Police were in attendance and determined the cause of the fire was deliberate.
