Fire breaks out in Paignton

Fire crews this morning (15 February) say they're currently dealing with a large blaze on Victoria Street in the centre of Paignton.

Bosses said: "We are currently dealing with a large fire on Victoria Street in the centre of Paignton.

"Please avoid the area. If you are in the vicinity, make sure you keep your windows and doors closed."

In an update on their website, it's been confirmed that there have been eight fire engines and other supporting resources on scene working to extinguish the fire in a 4-storey building.

We have been told that this incident is now being scaled back and the fire has now been extinguished.

Firefighters are damping down and checking for hotspots.

At the height of the incident, we know that six Firefighters were in breathing apparatus using 3 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, and an Aerial Ladder Platform was also utilised on scene dealing with the fire in the third floor flat.

Police and Ambulance were also on scene.
