The family of Angus Clyde, who died after a fire in Bideford, has shared a heartfelt tribute, expressing gratitude for the community's support during this difficult time.

The 55-year-old was found dead following the fire on Honestone Street on 28th October 2025.

His family said his death has been "devastating" and they have struggled to come to terms with their loss.

Angus was described by his family as a loving father and a good friend who lived life in an unconventional way, guided by his values and curiosity.

He was remembered for his love of music and appreciation for nature, finding peace in the outdoors and bringing warmth and humour to those around him.

They also acknowledged the impact of the fire on the local community and expressed gratitude to the fire service and police for their swift response and ongoing support.

Investigation and arrests

An investigation into the fire began immediately, resulting in several arrests.

Three teenagers, suspected of arson with intent to endanger life, have had their bail extended, while others face no further action.

A boy aged 13, a boy aged 14, and a boy aged 15 have been re-bailed until mid-April.

As the investigation continues, Angus’ family has requested privacy and asked people to refrain from speculating online.
