Enjoy special events and promotions in Exmoor National Park
Exmoor Day, marked on 19th October, invites everyone to embrace the natural beauty and cultural richness of Exmoor National Park.
Visitors can receive a 10% discount at Exmoor National Park Centres and its online shop by using the code EXMOORDAY26.
A key highlight is the Space Odyssey Planetarium Sessions at Minehead Middle School, offering immersive experiences featuring Exmoor’s renowned dark skies from 4.30pm to 8pm.
Running alongside these events is the 'Eat Cake for CareMoor' campaign from 17th to 19th October, where purchases at participating cafes and tearooms contribute vital funds for conservation projects.
Exmoor Day also showcases the strides made under the Exmoor National Park Management Plan, celebrating a year of action and collaboration among partners, communities and volunteers.
Sarah Bryan, Chief Executive of Exmoor National Park Authority, emphasised these collective efforts, saying they "belong to the many partners, land managers, communities, and volunteers.”
Achievements include the return of three lost species to Exmoor; a thriving population of pine martens, beavers released at the Holnicote Estate, and young white-tailed eagles released with the help of various wildlife trusts and conservation foundations.
Additionally, through initiatives like Farming in Protected Landscapes, 52 projects have supported 79 farming businesses, cultivated wildlife-rich habitats, and reinforced soil health across large areas of land.
Exmoor's paths and public access points have seen enhancements, with nearly 200 metres of new boardwalk created, bridges made safer, and six accessibility initiatives supported through Defra’s funding.
Path Fixer events have revived community involvement, allowing local volunteers to contribute directly to keeping routes open and welcoming.
With numerous opportunities to engage and support, Exmoor Day aims to foster an environment that is greener, wilder, and home to thriving communities.
