Andrew Giles, a 54-year-old from St John’s Road in Exeter, has been jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to stalking a woman, leaving her frightened in her own home.

Appearing at Exeter Crown Court, Giles faced charges involving fear of violence or serious alarm or distress.

His efforts to contact the victim involved multiple unannounced visits to her home over a two-month span from September to November last year.

During this period, Giles approached the victim's property on numerous occasions.

In one instance, after a housemate took a parcel meant for Giles, he came over to retrieve it and insisted on seeing the victim.

Though they had only exchanged pleasantries before, Giles entered the home under the guise of politeness, making inappropriate remarks which discomforted those present.

His visits escalated, with Giles returning the same night asking if more parcels were available.

His actions included making comments about the victim's body and criticizing the security of the property, causing alarm.

By mid-September, due to Giles' repeated appearances and attempts to engage the victim, the landlord installed additional security measures.

Not deterred, Giles continued his pursuit, even sitting outside to observe the victim's movements.

This resulted in the victim relocating temporarily.

Giles was arrested on 12th November following doorbell footage that captured him behaving aggressively.

Despite being bailed on conditions, Giles breached them the same day, resulting in his re-arrest.

During police interviews, Giles expressed inappropriate intentions towards the victim.

PC Charlotte Cameron described Giles as dangerous, highlighting the rapid escalation of his stalking behavior and praised the victim and her housemates for their cooperation in the investigation.
