Man in Exeter charged with rape and sexual assault

A man has been charged following reports of rape and sexual assault against two girls near Digby and Sowton railway station

19-year-old Sonny Boyes has been charged with two offences of rape and three offences of assault by penetration against two teenage girls.

This happened in the area within Digby and Sowton of Exeter on Friday evening between 8:45pm and 10pm.

Devon and Cornwall were notified of the incident on Friday evening (9 May), and a detailed investigation has been underway.

He will appear at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Monday 12th May.

Detective Inspector Emma Lefort, from Exeter CID, has expressed support to the victims and their families at this hard time:

"The victim continue to be supported by our specialist officers at this time."

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone with information on the event to come forward in an effort to support the investigation. Specifically, anyone who was in the vicinity of Digby and Sowton railway station on Friday evening.
