A rescue dog stranded on rocks near Brixham harbour was brought to safety last night (December 28) by volunteers from RNLI Torbay.

The dog, who escaped from her new family’s garden, was spotted swimming near the town jetty by a member of the public at around 7:10pm.

After making it to nearby rocks, the dog became stuck in an area that could not be reached from above by the Coastguard Rescue Team.

The local RNLI crew were called for assistance.

RNLI Torbay launched their in-shore lifeboat at 7:20pm and managed to coax the dog onto their D-Class lifeboat.

The crew brough her back to the station by 7:32pm and her owner was contacted and reunited with the dog shortly after.
