Six people have been remanded into police custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of a man in Plymouth.

Danny Cahalane was 38 when he was the victim of an acid attack at his home in Lipson Road in Plymouth on February 21st.

Cahalane was brought into hospital for treatment for his injuries, but succumbed to his injuries over two months later on May 3rd.

On Monday (June 2nd), Devon and Cornwall Police formally charged six people - one from Plymouth and five from London - with Danny's murder.

All six appeared before Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (June 3rd) via videolink for separate trial hearings.

The six accused spoke only to confirm their names, addresses and dates of birth, before being remanded into police custody ahead of a trial preparation hearing on Wednesday (June 4th).

Another three defendants were previously charged with other offences in relation to the incident.

A provisional trial date for all six suspects is set for May 2026 - and will take place at Winchester Crown Court.

In a tribute to Cahalane issued last month, the family said: "We are struggling to come to terms with Danny's passing.

"Danny was an outstanding father and son. Danny and his mum had so much love for each other.

"He is well loved by his family and friends and as a family, we cherish his love and memories."
