Christmas Day death of a man aged in his 80s remains unexplained say police

A man, aged in his 80s, has been pronounced dead after a Christmas day house fire in Devon.

Emergency services were called to an address in Chudleigh just before 11am and say investigations continue, with the death still being treated as 'unexplained'.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at 10.50am on 25 December to rural property north of Chudleigh following concerns for a man.

"Emergency services attended the scene where a fire was believed to have occurred – it had extinguished prior to arrival.

"A man, aged in his 80s, was located in the property and was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained, and we are working with the fire service to establish the circumstances of this incident."
