Five days of music, surf, and activities begin in Newquay
Newquay is gearing up to host over 50,000 attendees as the much-anticipated Boardmasters Festival returns from today until Sunday (5th to 9th August), promising an exciting blend of music, surf, skate, and wellness activities.
Set across the stunning locations of Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach, the festival is one of Cornwall’s biggest attractions this summer, drawing visitors from around the UK.
Free public events at Fistral Beach will complement ticketed happenings at Watergate Bay, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
The arena will be buzzing from 11:00 to 02:00 BST over the weekend, with festivities kicking off on Wednesday at 17:00.
The Line-up
The festival's four stages will feature a line-up of top artists.
On Friday, 7th August, expect energetic performances from Fatboy Slim, The Kooks, and Dizzee Rascal.
Saturday brings headliner Lily Allen alongside acts like REN and the Cornwall Rock Choir.
Kasabian, Loyle Carner, and Tinie Tempah are among the artists closing out the festival on Sunday.
Getting There
With Big Green Coach as the official travel partner, festival-goers can secure transport starting at £20.
Trains to Newquay are running, with a handy Festival Shuttle operating between key locations, ensuring easy access to the venues.
Parking is available with designated areas for accessible needs, while key roads like Alexandra Road will face closures to keep crowds safe.
More Than Just Music
In addition to a stellar music line-up, Boardmasters Open at Fistral Beach offers surfing competitions with upgraded stakes, promising thrilling action for participants and spectators alike.
Skateboarders and surf enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy, along with talks on sustainability and the ocean at the festival's Talk Tent.
Camping and Amenities
Campers can enjoy a variety of food and drink options across the festival sites.
Water stations and limited alcohol allowances for campers aged 18 and over ensure everyone stays hydrated and safe.
Staying Safe
Wristbands are mandatory, and safety protocols include sun protection advice from St John Ambulance, stressing the importance of hydration and awareness of heat exhaustion symptoms.
Round-the-clock welfare services, including mental health support and specialist teams for dealing with any form of harassment or abuse, are available to support attendees.
