It's reported that a beaver seen beside the River Tamar waterfront has since died.

It's said the animal was found on the Saltash side.

The beaver was spotted - and later shared - on the Ferry House Inn's Facebook page.

They've now shared another post telling people what to do if you spot one of the creatures, which do live in the freshwater Tamar.

It's as young ones are sometimes known to get a little too far downstream, into the tidal part of the river.

Sadly, beavers which reach the salt water are known to pass away.

They freshwater animals, and saltwater can be very toxic to them.
