32-year-old from Barnstaple, received a sentence of two years and two months at Exeter Crown Court on 28th May for coercive and controlling behaviour.

Tyler Wilkey has also been issued with a 14-year restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the victim.

The court was informed that Wilkey's victim lived in constant fear due to his threats to harm her and her family.

PC Hunt, the officer involved in the case, said: “The victim in this case has shown great bravery in coming forward to report Wilkey for the abuse he has inflicted upon her.

“The psychological harm will take time to heal but we hope that she feels that justice has been served.”

PC Hunt urged anyone experiencing abuse to report it: “Anybody who has suffered abuse within a relationship – whether that be physical abuse or controlling behaviour – is asked to report it to us.

“Each report will be investigated, and you will be supported throughout the process. Please report via 101 or our website or call 999 if in immediate danger.”
