Armed police called to reports of a man with a chainsaw an axe in Exeter

It follows an incident on Bonhay Road on 10th July 2025

A man’s been arrested in Exeter after threatening people with a chainsaw and an axe. Police say firearms officers were called out in the early hours of Thursday and managed to talk the man out of a property. He was arrested on suspicion of affray and has since been given a caution.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police: "We were called to Bonhay Road, Exeter, shortly before 1am on Thursday 10th July 2025 following a report of a man making threats with a chainsaw and axe before going inside a property. Firearms officers attended the scene and following negotiation, the suspect left the property and was arrested. A man in his 30s from Exeter has been arrested on suspicion of affray. He has been given an adult caution in relation to the incident."
