Appeal after serious assault in Tavistock

Police are appealing for witnesses and information, after a serious assault in Tavistock.

At around 11.45pm on Wednesday 5 August, a man was walking his dog along Tavistock Viaduct, when he was approached by a man he didn't know, who entered the viaduct from the Glanville Road direction.

When the victim’s dog barked at the suspect, the suspect stabbed the victim, with an unknown implement.

The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for a wound to the right side of his body. The injury is not life-threatening.

Inquiries have been ongoing, to try to identify the suspect and officers are now appealing to anyone in the area, between 11pm and midnight, who may have witnessed the assault, or who saw a man matching the below description, to get in touch.

The suspect is described as a white male, mid 30s, of medium build, around 5ft 10ins tall, with dark hair and clean shaven.

He was wearing a grey hooded top, black joggers, white trainers and possibly a baseball cap beneath the hood.
