Police issue appeal after man attacked in Burnfoot area of Hawick

A 30-year-old man has been taken to hospital after being assaulted in the Burnfoot area of Hawick.

Police are appealing for information following the incident.

It unfolded in the town's Kenilworth Avenue - home to Burnfoot Community School, as well as a number of residential properties and shops - shortly before 5pm yesterday (Wednesday).

According to officers, the man was within his vehicle - a Volkswagen Golf - when he was approached by the occupants of a white Audi and subsequently attacked.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been released.

Police are describing the assault as "serious".

Detective Constable Nicky Batten, from Police Scotland, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam or private CCTV that could assist to contact us.”
