Search continues for teenager reported missing after kayak capsized off Northumberland coast
Police say the search is continuing for a 19-year-old man reported missing after a kayak capsized off the Northumberland coast, amid fears he may have died.
Emergency services were scrambled to the scene near Boulmer after the alarm was raised around 9.15pm last night (Tuesday).
It was reported that two men had been in a kayak which overturned.
One man was able to swim to a buoy and was later rescued by Coastguard teams.
Searches were immediately launched to find the second man, with support from police, coastguard and lifeboat teams.
Police say efforts to locate him are ongoing but, due to the circumstances of the incident, he is not believed to have survived.
The teenager's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

Chief Inspector Jon Caisley, of Northumbria Police, said: “This is a very tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones at this time.
“We will continue to support them in any way that we can, and would ask that their privacy is respected.”
For their own safety, members of the public are asked not to attend the scene to conduct their own searches and allow trained professionals to continue their efforts.
"Searches continue but due to challenging circumstances, we are not able to provide any timescales around our efforts to recover the man," the Chief Inspector added.
“We would like to thank our colleagues with HM Coastguard and all of our partners for their continued support.”
