Two people in hospital following crash involving motorhome on A1

Two people have been taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital following a crash on the A1 near Alnwick.
The collision involved two cars and a motorhome.
Emergency services were called to the scene around midday yesterday (Monday).
And the cross-border route was closed between Denwick and South Charlton for around nine hours while officers examined the area and the wreckage was cleared.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 12.05pm on Monday (May 4th), we received a report of a collision on the A1 north of Alnwick.
“Emergency services attended where it was understood that three vehicles had been involved in a collision.
“Two people were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.
“The road has since been fully re-opened, and enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances surrounding the collision.”

It's the latest in a series of serious or fatal crashes on the cross-border route in recent weeks, which have prompted renewed calls for the A1 to be fully dualled.
Unconfirmed eyewitness posts stated a caravan became detached from the towing vehicle, and was involved in a collision with the vehicle behind.
A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on the A1 near Alnwick at 12.05pm on May 4th.
"We dispatched three double crewed ambulances and a clinical team leader. Two patients were taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital."
