WATCH: Travellers 'cause CAR-nage' on industrial estate

Author: Ally McGilvrayPublished 4th May 2026

Police and council chiefs are set to meet with the owners of Tweedbank industrial estate to discuss what more can be done to prevent unwanted encampments.

It comes after travellers left behind a trail of destruction after moving motorhomes into a wooded area on the site - near the Borders Railway terminus.

"Huge amounts of human waste", a smashed up car, and broken heater are among piles of rubbish left behind.

That's despite efforts to block them from entering with huge boulders following previous encounters.

Local councillor David Parker says it's "appalling behaviour that can't continue".
