A72 closed following second crash near Peeblesshire village in less than a week

A Borders road has been closed following a second crash in less than a week.
Emergency services were alerted to the latest incident on the A72 near Skirling shortly before 1am this morning.
The road is closed between the A702 Edinburgh-Biggar road and the Peeblesshire village.
And drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
It comes less than a week after a suspected hit-and-run on the same stretch of road.
Police are continuing to appeal for information after a cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a vehicle around 3.30pm on Tuesday.
A 36-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, and anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 2010 of August 11th.

Detective Constable Josh Ellwood, from Police Scotland, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.
“I would also appeal to anyone who has seen a Mercedes Sprinter type van in the area around the time to contact us.
“I would also request anyone with dash cam or private CCTV footage that could assist to get in touch.”
