A £3,000 reward is on offer for information leading to the identification of two people believed to be involved in an arson attack that devastated a gym in Reading.

On the morning of 30th January, CCTV captured two individuals entering The Atrium Health Club in Tilehurst, spreading an accelerant, and setting the premises alight before leaving the scene.

The fire has caused extensive damage, disrupting classes, fitness sessions, and community programmes at the club.

Investigators are looking into possible links between this incident and organised criminal activity targeting fitness centres in the area. This investigation raises concerns about the potential for further attacks.

Beth Simpson, South Central West Regional Manager at Crimestoppers, said: “This was a deliberate and reckless attack that destroyed a much‑loved local business and could easily have put lives at risk. We know speaking up about crime involving drugs or organised groups can feel intimidating — but Crimestoppers offers a completely safe and anonymous way to share what you know.

“You may think what you’ve seen or heard is insignificant, but it could stop another attack. Silence allows dangerous people to act again. Your information could make all the difference.”

The independent gym reopened to members on 21 February after a 'tough few weeks' and an intensive recovery effort.
