Woman critically ill following Oldham stabbing
An investigation is underway into an incident in Greenwood Street last night
A woman is in critical condition in hospital following a stabbing in Oldham.
Police responded to reports of the assault on Greenwood Street at around 10.40pm last night (Friday 27th March 2026).
When they arrived at the scene they found a woman, believed to be in her 20s, with serious injuries.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Chief Inspector Ian Partington from Greater Manchester Police's Oldham district said:
"This was a shocking incident of violence, and our thoughts remain with the victim at this incredibly difficult time.
"I would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are taken extremely seriously and our officers are currently exhausting all lines of enquiry to locate the suspect.
"We understand this is a concerning incident, and we have extra patrols in the area following this incident. I encourage anyone with concerns to please speak with our officers who are there to support.
"A scene remains in place and our officers have worked through the night to conduct their investigation.
“I urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone from the area at the time to please report to us."
Extra patrols are in place in the area to provide reassurance and support to those with concerns.
