Woman charged with murder of man in Haydock

A man in his 30s died from injuries suffered in a stabbing on Friday

A woman has been charged with the murder of a man in his 30s in Haydock, St Helens.

He died following a stabbing inside a flat in Sherlock Avenue on Friday night (2nd May 2025).

Kayleigh Smart - who's 39 and has no fixed address - is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday 5th May 2025).

A 40-year-old man from Liverpool who was arrested in connection with the murder has been released on police bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Ball from Merseyside Police said:

“Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the victim’s family, and they are being supported by our specialist officers at this difficult time.

“This was an isolated incident, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with his tragic death.”
