Three teenagers killed in "tragic" fatal car crash near Wakefield

Three teenagers have died following a fatal car crash in a village close to Wakefield in West Yorkshire.

Police were alerted to an incident taking place on Bramley Lane in West Bretton at around 8:30pm on Friday night (January 24th).

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that a black Seat Ibiza had come off the road and crashed into a tree.

It was soon found that the car had been driving towards the nearby area of Wooley when the collision took place.

In total, five people were in the car when it collided with the tree, with the driver - an 18-year old man - and two passengers aged 19, being confirmed dead at the scene.

The remaining two men were taken by emergency services to a nearby hospital, where one has been described as having "life-threatening" injuries.

Speaking on the case, Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle from West Yorkshire Police said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the loss of three lives and fourth person suffering critical injuries.

“Our thoughts go out to the families of those involved who we are working with to provide support."

West Yorkshire Police are now appealing for anyone with any potentially relevant information to get in touch as soon as possible.

"Our specialist collision investigators are establishing the circumstances surrounding this fatal collision and I would urge anyone who may have seen the car involved or who may have dashcam or other video footage that will help our enquiries to please contact us," he added.
