A driver's got points on their licence after astonished motorists noticed the only thing holding a load of furniture in the back of a van was sellotape.

Police Scotland say they received a phone call from someone who was alarmed to see it on the motorway, and was worried the load could fall out onto the road.

When officers pulled over the van the M74 last week, they discovered the roller door wasn't working and a spider's web of sticky tape had been stretched across the gap.

The vehicle was removed from the motorway and was not allowed to move again until everything was safely secured.

The driver was also issued a Fixed Penalty ticket.
