Manchester United to face Tottenham in all England Europa League final
The teams in 15th and 16th in the Premier League could end up playing in the Champions League next season
Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in an all-English Europa League final, despite poor seasons at home.
The teams, who are 15th and 16th in the Premier League respectively, have a chance to qualify for next season's Champions League.
A magical brace from substitute Mason Mount saw United saw a 4-1 comeback win against Athletic Bilbao.
Meanwhile, Tottenham held a two-goal lead after last week's first leg in north London, but had been warned to expect a stern examination on Bodo's notoriously difficult artificial surface in the Arctic Circle.
A firework display welcomed both teams onto the Aspmyra Stadion pitch, but Postecoglou watched his team produce a masterful defensive display in the first half before they struck twice in the second period.
It will be only the second European final Spurs have contested in the last 40 years and despite a woeful Premier League campaign with the club down in 16th position, Postecoglou can still stay true to his vow of always winning a trophy in his second season.
"It is the least we can do for fans" - Amorim
United boss Ruben Amorim said his side's win over Bilbao will mean nothing unless they beat Tottenham in the sixth all-English major European final on May 21.
He told TNT Sport: "It's the least we can do for all the fans for all the support they gave us in this tough season. But I'm stressed already because of the final because if we don't win it, in the end it's nothing.
"So we are happy to be there. Let's see. I can see I should be a better manager at this moment, the team should be better at this moment, but we are trying and I think we did quite well in Europe. We struggled a lot in the Premier League."
Amorim also had special praise for Mount for his two superb goals after he stepped of the bench in the 62nd minute .
The Portuguese added: "I'm so happy for Mason Mount. He's such a player. He works really hard, he has quality. Sometimes you are on the bench and you change the game."
"Something for fans to dream about" - Postecoglou
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou said his side had given the club's fans "something to dream about" after setting up an all-English Europa League final against United.
Postecoglou told TNT Sports: "I couldn't be prouder of the lads. We knew it would be a difficult place to come. We're well aware of the record they have here and the pitch and all those kind of things - the lads handled it really well.
"We fully deserved to win both legs to get though and we're excited, we're in the final.
"This is why we do what we do as much as anything else. You understand the context of what this football club has been trying to achieve for quite a while and managers and players come and go, but the one constant is the supporters.
"We've given them some hope, something to dream about. We've got an exciting trip coming up and a great experience and who knows? Hopefully we can do something special."
