Teenager dies after being pulled from water at Grasmere

The 19-year-old got into difficulty on Saturday afternoon and later died in hospital

A teenager has died after getting into difficulty in the water at Grasmere lake.

Emergency services were called at around 4.35pm yesterday (8 August), with an air ambulance also sent to the scene.

A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital but has since sadly died.

The teenager's family have been informed.

Cumbria Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward to help their investigation.

In a statement, the force added: "We would also like to thank those who came to the teenager’s aid, including those who helped get him to shore."
