Student police officer charged with rape and kidnap of woman in Manchester

A student police officer has been charged with rape and kidnap in connection with reports made to Greater Manchester Police over the weekend.
Mohammad Hassan, 23, has been charged following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police (GMP), after the Crown Prosecution Service authorised the charges.
He faces charges of oral rape, kidnap, strangulation, sexual assault, theft of a mobile phone and dangerous driving.
GMP said the charges relate to reports made to the force on the evening of Saturday 8th August.
The reports led to a police pursuit on the M62 in West Yorkshire.
A woman was safeguarded at the scene, according to GMP, and continues to be supported by specialist officers and support services.
Hassan has been remanded in custody and has been suspended from his role with the force.
He is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on 11th August 2026.

"The victim is our priority, and we are ensuring she continues to receive specialist support. Criminal proceedings must now take its course without interference.
