A murder investigation is underway after a woman died at a Liverpool city centre hotel.

A man has been arrested over the death of a 58 year old at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Hotham Street on Friday 11th April 2025.

The alarm was raised at around 1.40pm, when the woman was discovered unconscious at the hotel in Hotham Street.

Sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene - and a 52 year old man - who's from Liverpool was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

Merseyside Police say they're working 'at pace' to piece together what happened.

They're also urging people not to speculate online, as this could prejudice their enquiries.

Detective Superintendent Paul Grounds said:

“These are still the early stages of our investigation and our work will continue at pace at the location and elsewhere, as we look to piece together what happened.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the victim’s family, who will be supported by specialist officers, and to everyone affected by the events of yesterday.

“A man is in custody, and I like to take this opportunity to remind people of the importance of not posting speculation or other comments online which could affect our ongoing work.”

If you have any information that could assist the investigation, you can call Merseyside Police on 101 quoting log number 25000297013.
