A man in his 30s has suffered a potentially life-changing injury in a dog attack in Leeds city centre.

Police say he was bitten during a reported fight involving a group in New York Street at around 8.24pm last night (Friday 12th December 2025).

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing GBH and remain in custody - and a dog was also seized.

Detective Inspector Mark Hibbert from West Yorkshire Police said:

“I understand that this incident happened in a busy part of the city centre and may cause some concern in the local area.

“I want to reassure people that this was an isolated incident and officers acted swiftly to seize the dog and detain the suspects.

“I want to ask anyone with any footage that might help with our investigation to please contact us.”
