Man dies after getting into difficulty on Essex coast

A man has died after getting into difficulty along the Essex coast.

Emergency services were called to reports of a medical emergency just after 11am yesterday at Marine Parade East in Clacton-on-Sea.

Police officers, paramedics, firefighters, and the coastguard all attended but despite best efforts, the man, aged 69, died at the scene.

Police say his death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We were called to a medical emergency in Marine Parade East at about 11.05am on Friday 26 June. It was reported at the scene a man had gotten into difficulty in the water.ā€

Adding: ā€œWe are treating this death as unexpected but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.ā€
