A man's been charged with murder following the death of a woman in west London last year.
43 year old Alvin Gitahi of Uxbridge Road, Ealing, was charged with murder on Wednesday, 8 October. He is set to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 9 October.
Police were called at approximately 15:15hrs on Tuesday, 26 March after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman at an address in Riverside Close, Ealing.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a 35-year-old woman suffering injuries. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
She has been named as Vivienne Baraka and her family are being supported by specialist officers.
A post-mortem examination showed she had died from compression to the neck.
Gitahi was arrested at the scene before being released under investigation. He was re-arrested on Wednesday, 8 October and charged as above.
Family tribute
Vivienne's family said: "Vivienne had an infectious smile, was a mother, sister, daughter and was a bubbly person who was full of life. Vivienne was outgoing and loved to support her family, friends and community.
"The family continues to struggle with her untimely departure and aren't sure if time will ever bring solace or healing after she was taken too soon from us."
