First Minister John Swinney has unveiled his official Christmas card for 2025, featuring a self-taken photo of Loch Ossian in the Scottish Highlands.

Representing the importance of connection to nature in supporting our wellbeing, the picture was taken during a walk on the banks of the loch on Rannoch Moor in 2024.

The First Minister said he "felt a moment of peace and clarity" during his hike and is urging Scots to spend more time outdoors this festive season.

"Taking in the crisp Highland air and the sights around me is something I will never forget - standing there by the side of the loch, surrounded by nature, suddenly gave me a new perspective," the First Minister said.

"The value of getting outdoors and interacting with nature for our physical and mental wellbeing cannot be understated.

"The photograph I took that day - the image I have chosen for my Christmas card this year - is one that reminds me just how powerfully moving Scotland's beautiful natural landscapes can be.

"We are living through uncertain, challenging times, and the importance of connection is greater than ever - to nature and to those around us.

"This festive season, I would encourage everyone to make your way outdoors if you are able to, even just for a short time, to make the most of what our uniquely beautiful natural environment has to offer."
