Murder investigation launched after Gloucester stabbing victim dies

Two people remain in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

A man who had been stabbed following an altercation at a house in Gloucester has died of his injuries.

Officers were alerted to an incident taking place on Bedford Street in Gloucester at around 7:40am on Wednesday (May 28th).

When officers arrived, they found that a number of people had been stabbed, with three men being taken to hospital for their injuries.

All three were brought to hospital to be treated by medics, but despite their best efforts, one of the men was pronounced dead at around midday.

Gloucester Police believe they know who the man who died is and is liaising with his family, despite no formal identification.

The other two men currently remain in hospital where their condition has been described as being stable, with no life-threatening injuries.

A man, who is believed to be the suspect, was arrested by police half an hour after the incident occurred on suspicion of murder.

The suspect - believed to be aged in his 30s, was also taken to hospital, before being discharged and taken into police custody.

Speaking on the incident, Assistant Chief Constable Arman Mathieson from Gloucestershire Police said: "We understand how alarming and distressing this incident has been for members of our community. We would like to reassure everyone that the incident was contained within the address and there is no ongoing threat to the wider public.

“We have dedicated resources carrying out enquiries into this incident and for reassurance there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

“Members of our Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting high visibility patrols throughout Gloucester so if you have any concerns, please speak to them.”

A police cordon remains at the scene in Gloucester while investigations are being carried out, with officers urging anyone with information to come forward.
