Woman sexually assaulted while walking dog in Musselburgh as police hunt suspect
Police are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted while walking her dog in Musselburgh.
The incident happened at around 8.40pm on Sunday in a field near Arrow Crescent at Pinkie Braes.
A 45-year-old woman was approached and sexually assaulted by a man. She was not seriously injured but was left shaken by the ordeal.
The suspect is described as around 5ft 9in tall, of medium build and in his mid-20s to early 30s. He was wearing all dark clothing with his hood up at the time.
Detective Inspector Keith Sinclair, of Police Scotland, said: “The woman was left understandably shaken by this incident and we are doing everything we can to trace the man responsible.
“We know this is a concerning incident for people living in the area and an increased police presence will remain.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing, including door to door and reviewing CCTV footage.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in that area around the time and who may have any information which could assist to contact us.
“The area is frequently used by dog walkers, and we would ask if anyone was there around the time to think back and get in touch if they saw anything. It may seem insignificant but could prove important to our enquiries.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 3243 of 1 March, 2026.
