A 15-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty on a Fife loch yesterday.

The teenager had been paddle-boarding on Loch Ore near the popular activities centre around 5.30pm when he got into trouble.

Emergency services raced to the scene as coastguard crews were scrambled and a helicopter was brought in to aid the search.

The effort went late into the night and then police divers were brought in today. Sadly, a body was discovered in early afternoon.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.20pm on Sunday, 29 June, 2025, the body of a male youth was recovered from the water at Lochore Meadows, Crosshill, Fife.

“Formal identification has yet to take place however the family of a 15-year-old paddle boarder reported missing on Saturday, 28 June, have been informed.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
