Second person dies after Fife crash

A 64-year-old man died in hospital this morning

A second person has died following a two-car crash in Cluny, Fife.

The incident happened at around 11.10pm on Friday 19 December, on the B981 between Cluny and the roundabout at Chapel junction.

It involved a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Volkswagen Polo.

The driver of the Polo, a 48-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 64-year-old passenger died in hospital this morning.

One other passenger from the Polo remains in hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Qashqai, a 33-year-old woman, was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence. She was also taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and was reopened around 6.30am on Saturday.

Sergeant Louise Birrell said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman and man who died.

“Enquiries into the crash are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything around the time to contact officers.

“I’d also ask that those with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which may assist to please review this to see if it has captured anything of significance.”
