Police in Fife are searching for a missing teenager who vanished after his car crashed between Kilconquhar and Largoward in the early hours of Thursday.

Officers responded to reports of a crashed car on fire on the B941 at around 1.10am on 23 July.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service which raised the concern as there were no occupants in the car or within the area.

Police believe the driver was 17 year old Matthew Milne, and think he left the scene after the crash.

They are keen to make sure he is safe.

Matthew has been described as 5ft 8in, of slim build and with light brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a black football top, black jogging trousers, and black and white Adidas trainers.

Police appeal

Sergeant Chris Hail of Police Scotland said: "Concerns are growing for Matthew's welfare and it is vital that we find him to make sure he is safe and well.

"Extensive searches are ongoing and we are asking anyone who has seen Matthew or knows where he might be to get in touch.

"If Matthew hears about this appeal then I urge him to contact us or his family."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0197 of July 24.
